On July 16, 2026, singer, drummer, and songwriter **Hiro Tsunoda (Tsunoda☆Hiro)** presented his annual **Special Dedication Outdoor Concert** at Yasukuni Shrine during the 79th Mitama Festival in Tokyo. Held on the shrine's traditional Noh Stage, the performance is offered as a musical tribute to the war dead enshrined at Yasukuni Shrine rather than as a commercial concert. The evening featured two parts. The first showcased Tsunoda☆Hiro and his band performing a selection of jazz and contemporary music. The second included eleven students from the Wild Music School as a chorus, creating a moving and memorable performance. Together they sang **"Kibō no Tori (Bird of Hope)," "Furusato," "Umi Yukaba,"** and **"Arigatou (Thank You),"** all performed while facing the shrine's main sanctuary as an expression of remembrance and gratitude. One of the highlights was **"What a Wonderful World,"** which received warm applause from many international visitors. The familiar melody created a shared moment that transcended language and culture, adding a special atmosphere to the festival. Tsunoda☆Hiro has often emphasized that this is a **dedication performance** rather than an ordinary concert. He has stated that he would perform even if no audience were present because the music is offered to the spirits honored at the shrine. At the conclusion of the performance, he bows toward the shrine instead of the audience, underscoring the ceremonial nature of the event. Surrounded by more than **30,000 illuminated lanterns**, the concert combines music, remembrance, and Japanese summer tradition, making it one of the most distinctive and meaningful events of the Mitama Festival. It has become a cherished annual tradition for many visitors, and Tsunoda☆Hiro has expressed his wish to continue offering the performance for as long as he is able to appear on stage.
